Drivers in Park Slope are fuming over a guy with a flashy orange sports car — who they say uses traffic cones to reserve a street spot in the parking-crunched neighborhood.
In a conflict that seems lifted from a “Seinfeld” episode, the jerky driver sets up four cones to claim the space and guard his Dodge Challenger from a fender-bender on Eighth Street near Prospect Park West, neighbors claim.
“It’s ridiculous. It’s like seat-saving in the cafeteria for grade-school kids,” said Chris Mancuso, 32, who works in the area.
The self-centered street hog even penned the words “Dodge Challenger” on the cones, which he places in front of, next to, behind and on top of the muscle car when it’s parked.
On the grill is a flashing blue light to keep people from touching his ride, neighbors told the blog F–ked in Park Slope, which first reported the story.
The motorhead’s spot-saving is driving some neighbors crazy.
“I think it’s obnoxious. I think that’s really terrible . . . Some people aren’t considerate,” said Diana Gradus, 69, who said construction in the area already makes parking difficult.
The coned-off car’s owner, William Caraballo, 31, lives in Sunset Park and drives to Park Slope for a maintenance job. He denied using cones to reserve a spot, saying he puts the cones around the car only while it’s parked.
“In every neighborhood, I put cones around the car,” he told The Post. “I guess it draws attention to it in a way, but it also protects it.”
He said he bought the car — his first new one — in May, and he likes to keep a tarp over it.
“I don’t want people at night, especially if I’m at home in bed, looking through the glass to see what’s inside,” he said.
Despite Caraballo’s Dodge pride, frustrated residents said the car, which has a $27,000 base price, isn’t worth the fuss.
“It ain’t a Bentley, weirdo,” said Anthony Anderson, 34, a neighborhood resident.
Lyman Rhodes, 31, fumed, “If you really want to protect your car, put it in a garage!”
The car features a sticker across the windshield that declares, “DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT.”
It also boasts tinted windows and shiny silver rims.
“Ah, the things I could do to that car with a nice, sharp screwdriver and a quick flick of the wrist!” one blog commenter posted.
Another wrote: “I like how he’s written Dodge Challenger on all the traffic cones in case anyone is confused about what douche-mobile they belong to.”
