It’s the sixth and final season premiere of this drama based on an Elmore Leonard novella about Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), who is drawn back to his home state of Kentucky. The final season promises to finally bring the long brimming conflict between the lawman and Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) to a head.
“Backstrom”
Thursday at 9 p.m. on Fox
Rainn Wilson (“The Office”) stars as Det. Lt. Everett Backstrom, an unhealthy and offensive cop who cracks cases as head of Portland’s Special Crimes Unit while unsuccessfully trying to change his self-destructive behavior. The comedic procedural is from “Bones” creator Hart Hanson and based on the Swedish book series by Leif G.W. Persson.
“Sons of Liberty”
Sunday at 9 p.m. on History
This three-night, six-hour miniseries follows American revolutionaries Sam Adams (Ben Barnes), John Adams (Henry Thomas), Paul Revere (Michael Raymond-James), John Hancock (Rafe Spall) and Dr. Joseph Warren (Ryan Eggold) as they fight to gain the nation’s independence from Great Britain. Dean Norris co-stars as Benjamin Franklin.
