“Breaking Bad” star Anna Gunn has been cast as the female lead in CBS’ “Criminal Minds” spinoff alongside Gary Sinise.
The pilot — which will be filmed in mid-February as a “Criminal Minds” episode, and will air later this season as a planted spinoff — focuses on a division of the FBI that helps American citizens who find themselves in trouble abroad.
Gunn will play the role of Ally Lambert, an international law expert and skilled linguist opposite Sinise, who plays team leader Jack Garrett, a 20-year veteran of the bureau.
“Criminal Minds” showrunner Erica Messer is writing the script and executive-producing with Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper. The project, which is still in development, is produced by ABC Studios, CBS Television Studios and The Mark Gordon Company.
Gunn won two Emmy Awards for her role as Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) wife, Skyler, on “Breaking Bad.”
She most recently starred with David Tennant in “Gracepoint,” Fox’s adaptation of the British series “Broadchurch.”
