WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Police say they were tipped off to an underage drinking party at a Fingers Lakes home when the host accidentally dialed 911 on a cellphone.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office tells local media that the county 911 center received a call around 3:15 a.m. Sunday but no one was on the line.
Dispatchers could hear commotion in the background and the call was traced to a home in the village of Watkins Glen, on the southern end of Seneca Lake.
Deputies were dispatched, and when they arrived they found a party with underage drinkers. Police determined that the host of the party had accidentally pocket-dialed 911.
The minors with alcohol were issued appearance tickets for town court.
