The young motorist whose Mercedes was struck by the Lincoln Town Car carrying tragic “60 Minutes” correspondent Bob Simon told The Post on Thursday that he was a big fan of the legendary journalist and is heartbroken over his death.
“Obviously, I’m devastated to hear that he had died, and I wish there was something anyone could have done to prevent this horrible thing from happening,” Zachary Miller, 23, told The Post.
“I am a fan, I’ve seen him on ’60 Minutes,’” Miller said of the CBS broadcaster.
“I have so much sympathy for his wife and daughter. I’d feel the same way if anyone lost their life,” said Miller, a Westchester resident.
Miller said he was not injured in the wreck but did not want to provide other details of the crash, citing the ongoing police investigation into it.
“I gave a full statement to the police, and I can’t say anything more than that,” he said.
He only said that after his car was sideswiped by the Lincoln, it accelerated and took off like a shot before it struck a barrier on the West Side Highway on Wednesday evening.
Miller said he’s just trying to forget the memory of the horrific wreck.
“All I’m concerned with right now is moving forward,” he said.
