After seeing the reaction to the first step of their uniform changes, the Browns should not be in a rush to show off the rest of their ensemble.
On Tuesday morning the Browns unveiled their new helmets with the new uniforms to come on April 14.
“We’ll have cutting-edge uniforms that link back to our history,” Browns president Alec Scheiner said last March in a radio interview.
“I’m really excited about our direction … I’d be very surprised if our fans don’t love our new-look uniforms.”
However, a look at the “new” helmet reveals that it is nothing more than a change in color, to a “brighter and richer” orange, which the team says will “match the passion of [Cleveland].”
“Our updated helmet logo is reflective of today’s modern Cleveland — the design honors the past while evolving into the future,” the team said in a statement. “The iconic brown and white stripes stand tall over the orange helmet — a new orange color that matches the passion of the Dawg Pound. The new brown facemask represents the strength and toughness of Cleveland.”
As is the case with most things Browns-related, the new uniforms were panned by Internet cognoscenti.
