He got shot — and then he got lucky.
A man who took a bullet to the chest was trying to drive himself to the hospital in The Bronx early Tuesday when he came upon EMS crews responding to a call for an emotionally disturbed person, authorities said.
The victim stumbled to the ambulance and was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where he was in serious condition but expected to survive, officials said.
The 22-year-old man had been sitting in his car on Bronxwood Avenue around 1 a.m. when a gunman squeezed off a round, cops said.
The victim, already behind the wheel of his car, began to drive himself to the hospital when he encountered the emergency responders at the corner of East Tremont Avenue and White Plains Road, police said.
