Two luckless thugs shot a man from their car Saturday in upper Manhattan, but were quickly nabbed by plainclothes cops who happened to be in their unmarked cruiser behind the gunman’s ride, cops said.
Joshua Monsanto, 21, and Hugo Rodriguez, 19, were stopped at a red light at West 172nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights at around 3:45 a.m. when they started yelling at a pedestrian.
Rodriguez then leaned out his car window and fired a single shot at the 21-year-old victim, nailing him in the right thigh, cops said.
The officers flicked on their emergency lights and took off after the pair’s fleeing Honda, officials said.
They pulled it over on West 171st Street, ordered Monsanto and Rodriguez out of the car, and quickly secured the loaded .22-caliber Beretta in the back seat, according to police.
The shooting victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
