Carly Rae Jepsen is ready for a victorious comeback.
The 29-year-old singer, who dominated the charts in 2012 with her earworm “Call Me Maybe,” has dropped a new ’80s-pop-tinged single, “I Really Like You.”
With a simpler than simple hook — “I really, really, really, really, really, really like you” — the infectious song seems primed to restore the pop tart to some of her former glory.
The single marks Jepsen’s first attempt at radio dominance since her “Call Me Maybe” follow-ups “This Kiss” and “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” both failed to make much of an impact with listeners. Last year, Jepsen switched things up by heading to Broadway to appear in the lead role of “Cinderella” opposite Fran Drescher.
A music video for “I Really Like You” was shot recently and included the likes of Justin Bieber and Tom Hanks.
Well, that’s certainly one way to reach multiple demographics.
