A watchful uncle saved his 13-year-old niece from prostitution when he texted the missing teen — and her pimp wannabe texted back, offering her for sex, Brooklyn prosecutors said on Monday.
She and another girl, also 13, were walking home from a party in August when Marcus Sumpter, 25, picked them up in Crown Heights and took them back to his Brooklyn apartment where he had sex with them, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The next morning, Sumpter and two pals convinced the girls to pose naked for photos and to work as prostitutes, prosecutors said.
When the uncle texted his niece’s phone to check up on her, he got a text back from one of the abusers, saying, “Want a date?” the DA said.
The crafty uncle texted back, “Yes,” then went to the apartment, paid for the girl as if he were a client, and took her home to safety, according to prosecutors.
The other girl’s relatives also came for her.
Sumpter was held without bail on kidnapping and prostitution charges when he was arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court on Monday.
He faces up to 25 years behind bars.
Joann Bailey, 55, and Jerry Brown, 57, were charged with lesser raps and granted bail in connection with the case.
