Harvey feeling ‘all good’ and ready for next spring step

PORT ST. LUCIE — Matt Harvey passed his most recent test on all fronts.

A day after throwing 25 pitches over two perfect innings against the Tigers in his return to competition, Harvey gave a thumbs-up on his surgically repaired right elbow.

“It’s all good,” Harvey said Saturday.

The right-hander is scheduled to face the Marlins in an exhibition game on Wednesday in Jupiter, Fla., and will throw three innings — or about 45 pitches — according to manager Terry Collins.

Harvey was on a 35-40 pitch leash Friday, but because of his efficiency didn’t come close to reaching that number. The right-hander struck out three batters and topped out at 99 mph.

Michael Conforto, the organization’s first-round draft pick last year, was brought over from minor league camp and started in left field against the Braves. The lefty-swinging outfielder finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the Mets’ 3-1 victory.

“I kind of surprised myself a little bit,” Conforto said. “I felt very comfortable and my goal was just to come out here and have fun — embrace the moment and the opportunity to be out here with these guys was pretty cool.”

Conforto hit .331 in 42 games at Single-A Brooklyn last year after arriving from Oregon State.

“I feel like it’s been pretty smooth,” Conforto said. “And I’ve been happy with the way it has been going.”

Daniel Murphy did not play, a day after got drilled in the right hand by a David Price fastball and was removed from the game with a bruise. X-rays taken on the hand were negative, but Murphy might need additional days off.

Steven Matz fired two hitless innings against the Marlins in a split-squad game in Jupiter. The lefty Matz hit a batter and struck out two.

The Mets held a brief ceremony for slain New York police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, whose families have been guests of the team this weekend.

Ramos’ sons, Justin and Jaden, have served as batboys the last two days.

“We grew up Mets fans and this has been an awesome experience,” Justin Ramos said.

Liu’s widow, Pei Xia, thanked David Wright for a dinner he hosted with the families Friday night.

“We will always remember we had a wonderful time with the Mets at spring training,” she said.

The two officers were ambushed and killed execution-style in Brooklyn on Dec. 20.
