Derek Jeter is in the Land of the Rising Buns, er, Sun.

The retired Yankees shortstop’s trip to Japan this week — he is teaming up with his former teammate Hideki Matsui for a charity baseball game on Saturday in Tokyo to support the survivors of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami — included a stop Thursday in Osaka to watch the Spring Grand Sumo Tournament bouts.

With girlfriend Hannah Davis by his side, things got pretty cheeky when the wrestlers walked by in their traditional garb.

He stopped for a photo op with Mongolian yokozuna Hakuho. However, Jeter’s fame did not fully translate, even in baseball-mad Japan.

“He was a catcher or something like that, wasn’t he?” top-ranked wrestler Tochiozan asked, according to the Japan Times.
