A Manhattan landlord is suing to evict a rent-stabilized tenant from her Hudson River-view apartment, saying she was renting the place out on Airbnb while living elsewhere, according to court papers.
Jacob Chetrit, owner of 784 Columbus Ave., notes in his Manhattan Supreme Court suit that state law prohibits the tenant, Stacie Poole, from subletting her apartment for periods of fewer than 30 days.
Poole’s Airbnb.com listing advertises her “bright, sunny . . . high floor” studio apartment with “western exposure to the Hudson River” for $190 nightly stays, the suit says.
Court documents show that Poole has been renting her discounted pad through the Web site since 2011.
The landlord is suing to evict Poole, who he claims actually lives one block away on West 97th Street.
Poole’s mother, who answered the door at the West 97th Street address, said her daughter does live on Columbus Avenue, and added that she had no idea what Airbnb is.
