Subway rider advocates ripped Gov. Cuomo over the MTA on Wednesday, christening the MetroCard the “Cuomo Card.”
Gene Russianoff, of the Straphangers Campaign, said at the MTA’s monthly board meeting that the governor “on one day calls the MTA’s capital budget bloated and on others uses the system as a personal photo op.”
Cuomo campaigned about how the transit system rebuilt itself after Superstorm Sandy, but has distanced himself from the fare hike that went into effect on Sunday.
Proposals for how much the MetroCard would go up weren’t floated last year until after the November election.
