A Bronx man who was busted for jumping a turnstile at a Harlem subway station Wednesday was discovered to be armed with a loaded handgun, authorities said.
NYPD Transit officers Christian Serpico and Trevor Wisz were in the 145th Street A station at midnight when they observed Otha Williams, 22, hopping a turnstile and stopped him, cops said.
A warrant check revealed that he was a transit recidivist, thus disqualifying him from only receiving a summons, cops said.
Williams attempted to escape as officers tried to place him in custody and a search revealed that he was carrying a Walther .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun, cops said.
Williams was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and theft of service, cops said.
