Civil disobedience is not in the curriculum when it involves the schools chancellor.
The dean of a Bronx high school has been suspended for leading a protest Wednesday inside the City Council chambers where Chancellor Carmen Fariña was testifying.
David Rosen, teacher and dean of International Community HS, and three dozen students were escorted from City Hall after they interrupted a council budget hearing with the chant “civil rights matter” and demanded more sports teams for small schools.
The next day Rosen received a letter ordering him to report to a staff detention room. Department of Education spokesman Jason Fink said Rosen was under investigation for “misconduct.”
