The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee reportedly has asked the State Department’s inspector general to investigate why Huma Abedin, a top aide to Hillary Rodham Clinton, was allowed to keep her job while working at a politically connected consulting firm.
Fox News said Saturday that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) made his request after learning that both Clinton and Abedin, the wife of disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, used a now-deleted private Internet server for department correspondence.
Abedin worked part-time at State while a full-time employee of the private firm.
