The hit-and-run driver who struck a 15-year-old boy riding his bike in The Bronx has been arrested, authorities said Sunday.
Police in Westchester apprehended Kabiru Mohammed, 37, after spotting his damaged gray sedan in the driveway of his Mount Vernon home Sunday, hours after young Justin Jordan was left critically injured in the street, sources said.
Investigators tracked down the driver’s car after a witness jotted down his license-plate number after he boy was struck, police said.
The teen was riding his blue bicycle with a friend near Van Courtland Park on East 233rd Street and Jerome Avenue in Woodlawn at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when Mohammed hit him near an entrance ramp to the Major Deegan Expressway, according to police.
Cops said Mohammed left Jordan and his mangled bicycle in the street and continued driving without stopping to see if the boy was all right.
Jordan was rushed to Jacobi Hospital with severe head trauma, officials said.
Mohammed was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after signing a written statement admitting to the hit-and-run, cops said.
