Apple builds interest with new Apple Watch videos

The Apple Watch countdown continues — and now we have video.

At least four “guided tours” cropped up on Apple’s website over the weekend, demonstrating the functions of the nifty new timepiece to prospective buyers.

A longer “Welcome” video demonstrates how raising your wrist activates the watch, while lowering it will put it back to sleep. The videos also show how to swipe and tap the screen to answer messages and access apps.

One key revelation: To select a specific app, you need to turn the “crown” on the side of the watch, which allows you to click through the tiny icons on the watch face.

The Apple Watch, which will start at $350 for the cheapest “Sport” model, “lets you quickly do things you’re used to doing on your phone but in a more convenient, less obtrusive way,” according to one video’s voiceover.

Apple will begin taking pre-orders for the watch and offering in-store demonstrations April 10. Sales begin at stores April 24, but buyers will need to make an appointment, according to reports.
