Three men were charged Wednesday with stealing tens of thousands of dollars from an MTA cab-reimbursement program, authorities said.
The men allegedly took advantage of the program that reimburses disabled riders for taxis, which cost about half as much as trips on Access-a-Ride.
They allegedly submitted hundreds of false receipts between 2011 and 2013 from eight car-service companies.
Ibraheem Shahadat, 23, who played goalball in the International Blind Sports Federation, was charged with sending the MTA 206 bogus cab receipts, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
Lamar Brown, 34, and Eric Randolph, 43, were also busted for falsifying 740 receipts to the MTA.
“Stealing from a reimbursement program designed to further assist our disabled fellow citizens is a particularly heinous and heartless act,” said MTA Inspector General Barry Kluger.
