Christina Aguilera is going a little bit country.
“The Voice” judge guest-starred on Wednesday night’s episode of “Nashville” as pop star Jade St. John, Jeff’s (Oliver Hudson) ex-fiancée who brings her tour to Music City. These two didn’t end things amicably — which is rubbed in Jeff’s face when he’s forced to ask Jade to allow his only client, Layla (Aubrey Peeples), to be her opening act.
The pop-star role wasn’t much of an acting stretch for Aguilera, but she did sport pink hair and a more hip-slapping sound for her performance of “The Real Thing.”
She even caught the attention of Rayna’s (Connie Britton) ex-fiancé Luke (Will Chase), who was impressed by the rose-haired singer despite her top-40 sound.
And judging from the preview of next week’s episode, we haven’t seen the last of Jade. Besides a potential love interest for Luke, she’s also being set up as a new rival for Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), who’s looking to reassert her authority over the country-music scene now that she’s had her baby.
