Two thugs who oversaw a multimillion-dollar drug ring that funneled heroin and coke into New York City were brought down by their own greed and paranoia, prosecutors said Thursday.
Drug kingpins Luisito Colon Pagan and Robert Peralta were recently indicted along with three others accused of orchestrating the massive smuggling effort from Mexico, officials said.
“Pagan and Peralta had a love/hate relationship which began as a drug-distribution partnership,” said DEA agent James Hunt.
However, when the duo fell into debt with suppliers, Pagan allegedly put the blame on his partner and hatched a plot to kidnap Peralta’s brother in the Dominican Republic to score the ransom.
The feds swooped in on the ring and recovered 30 pounds of narcotics and about $835,000 in cash.
