A cookbook writer says working with Manhattan disc jockey Angie Martinez was a recipe for disaster.
Shirley Fan, a dietician and nutrition consultant who writes cookbooks for celebrities, was hired in 2013 to help Martinez and former “Top Chef” all-star Angelo Sosa put together their own tome of Latin recipes.
But instead of having too many cooks in the kitchen, Fan found herself all alone — as she tried to whip up a masterpiece, Martinez “utterly failed to cooperate,” according to Fan’s Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.
The DJ ignored phone appointments, meetings and Fan’s requests for information, claims the writer, who was supposed to get $40,000 for putting the book together.
Even though the Brooklyn resident was able to finish the text for “Healthy Latin Eating: Our Favorite Family Recipes Remixed,” she says Martinez and Sosa refused to give her a final $10,000 payment and removed her name from the book’s cover, according to the lawsuit.
Martinez and Sosa got a $100,000 advance for the cookbook.
Lawyers for the authors did not return messages seeking comment.
