A young mom pushing her tot in a stroller was stabbed by a mugger in Chelsea after she refused to hand over her purse, police sources said Friday.
Shanell Rodriguez, 23, had just cashed three checks totaling $8,000 at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday when the thief — who sported tattoos on his face — grabbed her purse on West 15th Street near Seventh Avenue.
When she fought back, the thief pulled a knife, stabbed her in the right thigh and fled with the purse.
Rodriguez told cops she had been on her way to meet a former co-worker to pay back a loan.
She was released after treatment at Beth Israel Hospital.
