“The Mindy Project” will live on after all.
A week after Fox canceled the Mindy Kaling comedy, Hulu confirmed that it has ordered a fourth season from producer Universal Television.
Season Four will consist of 26 new episodes with a premiere date to be announced. Hulu has the option to order additional seasons after the premiere.
Hulu already has the exclusive streaming rights to the past three seasons of “The Mindy Project.”
“I am thrilled ‘The Mindy Project’ has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show,” Kaling said in a statement. “It’s such an exciting place to be.”
The Hulu deal ensures fans will get a resolution to the Season Three finale cliffhanger, where a pregnant Mindy and her boyfriend Danny (Chris Messina) were on the rocks after he revealed he doesn’t want to get married.
The comedy also stars Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant and Xosha Roquemore.
