This is scarier than any movie they’ll show on your flight.
A Colorado computer hacker told the FBI that he briefly made an airliner fly sideways by hacking its computer system, according to a report.
Chris Roberts, who runs a cybersecurity consulting firm, told FBI agents in Syracuse in April that he pulled off the stunt by wiring a laptop computer into a jetliner’s entertainment system during a flight, Canada’s Aboriginal Peoples Television Network reported.
Roberts claimed to have hacked into in-flight entertainment systems 15 to 20 times between 2011 and 2014, the network said.
“We believe Roberts had the ability” to pull it off, the FBI said in court papers seeking a warrant to search his computers.
