Two masked gunmen who terrorized eateries and liquor stores in a string of violent robberies around the city have been busted — and one of them ratted out the other, court papers say.
Michael Heyward, 39, of The Bronx, and his accomplice, whose name was withheld, allegedly stuck up seven businesses in December and January — making off with thousands of dollars. They pistol-whipped a liquor-store clerk in Queens on New Year’s Eve and shot two workers who refused to hand over cash at a Staten Island bagel store, according to federal complaint.
An NYPD detective convinced Heyward’s partner to flip and he “is now cooperating with the government in hopes of obtaining leniency at sentencing,” according to the documents.
When cops searched Heyward’s apartment, they found two loaded guns, authorities said.
Federal agents were involved in the investigation.
