The Cardinals may be giving Chris Johnson a shot, but he’s giving the world a look at his.
The former Jets running back uploaded a picture on Instagram on Friday of a gunshot wound to his shoulder from a March drive-by shooting in Orlando, Fla. The photo, which is below, is not for the faint of heart.
The shooting occurred as Johnson was in the front passenger seat of a Jeep. There were “numerous bullet holes” on the outside of the vehicle, and his friend, in the driver’s seat, was killed. Johnson, who had a short stint in the hospital before being released with the promise of a full recovery, has a new perspective on life, he said.
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper ; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn,” Johnson wrote in the caption of the image, quoting the book of Isaiah. “This is the heritage of the servants of the lord and their righteousness is of me, saith the lord.”
Johnson, whose star rose in Tennessee before spending a forgettable season with the Jets last year, was expected to meet with the Cardinals on Sunday to undergo a physical.
The blazing free-agent running back, who will be 30 next month, rushed for a career-low 663 yards with the Jets.
Arizona’s presumed starter, Andre Ellington, has been slowed by a hamstring problem in training camp.
