In the new action-comedy “American Ultra,” now in theaters, Jesse Eisenberg plays Mike, a peace-loving stoner with an unknown secret: He’s a government-engineered super-soldier capable of taking down an army with a Q-tip.
“He’s so good that he will find a way to kill someone with anything,” says director Nima Nourizadeh. And he really means anything.
Here are some of Eisenberg’s weapons in the film:
Cup O’ Noodles
Mike’s first crazy tool is instant ramen. He scalds his assailant with hot broth, then stabs him in the throat with a spoon. “It’s a shocking moment,” says Nourizadeh.
Cast-iron skillet
When evil super soldiers descend on Mike’s home, he fends off their gunshots by tossing a skillet in the air. One of the bullets ricochets off the pan, killing a bad guy.
Frozen hamburger patties
The final fight takes place in a big supermarket. Mike heads to the freezer section and uses some frozen burgers to bludgeon a man.
Dustpan
During that same massive battle, Mike grabs a metal dustpan and thrusts it at an evil asset’s neck, killing him instantly. Blood sprays all over. Cleanup on Aisle 5!
