Donald Trump declined to correct a man who said President Obama is Muslim and not an American citizen during a question-and-answer session Thursday evening in New Hampshire.
“We have a problem in this country: It’s called Muslims,” the man declared. “We know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American — birth certificates, man.”
Trump tried to dismiss the commenter by chuckling and asking, “This is the first question?” But the man continued, apparently referring to the prospect of terrorist training camps on US soil.
“But anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill us,” he said. “That’s my question: When can we get rid of them?”
The GOP front-runner did not dispute the man’s premise.
“We are going to be looking at a lot of different things,” Trump said. “A lot of people are saying that.”
Trump has fueled conspiracy theories in the past by refusing to admit that Obama was born in the United States.
