A charming waterfront Tudor-style stone cottage where Orson Welles lived around the time he was working on “Citizen Kane” and where John Steinbeck later lived has gone into contract.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 55 Woods Road in the secret celeb haven of Snedens Landing, in Palisades, N.Y., was last asking $2.25 million.

The property, on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River, is spread over 2.4 acres.

It was built in the 1920s by a family inspired by homes they saw on a tour of the French countryside.

Quaint details include three fireplaces, leaded glass windows and a slate roof.

Other celebrity residents who lived at the home, nicknamed the “House In The Woods,” include Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivian Leigh.

Creative types still love the area’s privacy. Past and present residents of Snedens Landing include Mikhail Baryshnikov, Al Pacino, Lorraine Bracco, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Aidan Quinn and even Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, together, back in the day.

Angelina Jolie’s childhood home in Snedens Landing is also on the market for $2 million.

The listing broker of the Orson Welles home is Richard Ellis, of Ellis Sotheby’s International Realty.
