The owner of a Staten Island construction company was busted for allegedly trying to bribe city officials so his company would get paid faster for renovations to a school, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Abdulkader Kassem Elchoum, who owns AMA Construction/NY, allegedly offered $3,500 to School Construction Authority officials at PS 138 in Crown Heights to expedite the payment of his $2.5 million contract.
Elchoum, 55, was released without bail after pleading not guilty to third-degree bribery in Brooklyn Supreme Court. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
