French President François Hollande said Monday he will seek to join forces with the US and Russia to wipe out the ISIS terror group following the wave of shooting and bombing attacks across Paris.
“I will call both Obama and Putin to unite our efforts and seek a solution,” Hollande told French lawmakers.
Hollande said he wanted to create “a union of all who can fight this terrorist army in a single coalition,” calling the planned elimination of ISIS “a result that has been too long in coming.”
During a rare meeting of both houses of Parliament at the Palace of Versailles, Hollande said he would present a bill Wednesday to extend the current state of emergency in France by three months.
Hollande declared a state of emergency following Friday’s bloodshed that killed 129 people, granting cops extra power to conduct searches and make arrests, and also placing limits on public gatherings.
Hollande also vowed to boost spending on security, saying France would hire 5,000 more cops, add 2,500 posts to the Ministry of Justice and employ 1,000 additional customs agents.
“We will eradicate terrorism so that France may continue to lead the way, because French citizens want to continue to live without fear,” he said.
