Police on Friday identified the suspect in the Wednesday rape of a woman in a Lower East Side Park.
According to cops, Paul Niles, 28, accosted the 26-year-old victim, who was jogging in East River Park near Cherry Street at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and motioned for her to be quiet, police said.
When she attempted to flee, he allegedly grabbed her by the hair, put his arm around her throat and forced her into the park’s amphitheater, where he raped her.
He stole her cellphone and credit cards, one of which he used at a deli, cops said.
