New publisher for Dr. Oz mag
Dr. Oz’ the Good Life is switching publishers.
Kristine Welker, who was the launch publisher for the magazine when it started regular six-times-a-year publication in early 2014, is stepping down at year end.
An insider said it is her own decision and she plans to spend time volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Jill Seelig, a former publisher and chief revenue officer of O, the Oprah Magazine, will take over. Seelig was parked as senior vice president/corporate development at Hearst since exiting O in October 2014.
Dr. Oz, a colorful and sometimes controversial heart surgeon and TV personality, has said he hopes the magazine becomes a major circulation success and eventually reaches 2 million readers.
So far, it has upped its rate base to 800,000.
