We sat down with Roger Vivier’s Bruno Frisoni for this thoughts on ScarJo, his hottest accessory for the holidays and the best gift he’s received recently.
You’ve been the artistic director for over a decade now. What’s been your main goal?
Bruno Frisoni: [I wanted] to make an established brand, [that is] synonymous with sophistication, humor, sexiness and irreverence, go a little beyond that to make it contemporary. You know, sneakers, men’s styles, bags that are cooler, things that are easier to wear.
The brand has quite the A-list following. What’s been your favorite celebrity moment?
I remember I had the chance to have dinner with Scarlett Johansson about 10 years ago. She arrived and I immediately understood why men are crazy about her. She doesn’t do a thing, but the sensuality . . . you can smell it. She’s a sexual bomb. I saw her wearing [Vivier] pumps with the beautiful legs, the body, wearing a sexy dress, and I thought, “She’s amazing. She’s the Marilyn Monroe of today.”
What’s Roger Vivier’s hottest accessory for the holidays?
The long knee-high boot — the stretch one. It’s like a pant.
What is the best gift you’ve received recently?
My husband [artist-designer Hervé Van der Straeten] and I just give presents whenever we find them, but sometimes I gift myself. Months ago, while I was in New York, I bought two little pieces of bronze — a little paperweight foot and a lock.
What’s on your personal wish list?
Cuff links or a watch. I love watches. Or maybe a beautiful sports car.
