Wife acquitted of threatening mistress after husband admits cheating

A Brooklyn teacher’s aide admitted on the stand that he had an affair with a colleague who then falsely accused the aide’s jealous wife of threatening her with a knife outside a Brownsville classroom.

But the sordid affair and resulting criminal trial has led to two happy outcomes for the philandering aide: His wife was acquitted of the knife charges and she is standing by him, she told The Post.

School physical therapist Gertrude Robertson sparked the embarrassing trial by falsely claiming that Sandra Agosto, spouse of PS 396 colleague Luis Agosto, waved a knife at her in May while screaming, “Get away from my husband.”

Robertson denied fooling around with Agosto and said she was violently attacked in the May incident.

But testifying in his wife’s defense, the wayward hubby told jurors he had bedded Robertson, but that Robertson then made up the accusations against his wife.

It took a Brooklyn jury 20 minutes to acquit Agosto earlier this month.

The cleared defendant said her accuser was just upset because her husband broke off their romance.

The courtroom drama drew PS 396 Principal Nira Schwartz to the witness stand, where she told jurors that the knife attack was never reported to her, testimony that cast doubt on Robertson’s claims.

The physical therapist, who specializes is helping special-needs students, is no longer at the school, sources said. Agosto still works there.
