You’ve heard of Adele Adkins — now it’s time to make way for MC ’Delly Dope. The British singer revealed another side of her talent Wednesday night on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” when she took part in the show’s Carpool Karaoke segment.
Although she spent most of it harmonizing with Corden on her own songs, the 27-year-old showed her rapping skills by hurtling through Nicki Minaj’s ferocious guest verse on Kanye West’s 2010 track “Monster,” even matching Minaj’s maniacal scream at the end. See the video here, and skip 10 minutes in to witness Adele breathing fire.
After watching Adele spit her rhymes, the Queens rapper instantly tweeted her approval.
Although Adele admits she probably wouldn’t be much good as a rap writer, there’s no doubt she’s got a decent flow. In fact, a nightly burst of rap karaoke on her upcoming US tour would be the perfect way to break up the sappy ballads that make up the vast majority of her multimillion-selling 2015 album “25.”
Here’s hoping MC ’Delly Dope becomes a semiregular part of Adele’s live show.
