BOSTON — Alex Rodriguez still was booed at Fenway Park during Saturday’s 8-0 loss to the Red Sox, but he probably made a few fans Friday — when he gave the bat he hit a home run with to a young fan at Friday’s game.
The fan, David Moss, told MLB.com he asked if he could have Rodriguez’s batting gloves prior to his first at-bat.
Instead, Rodriguez said he would give him his bat if he hit a home run at some point during the game.
When Rodriguez proceeded to hit his fourth homer of the season during that same at-bat against Boston’s Henry Owens, he followed through on his promise.
After crossing home plate, Rodriguez got his bat back from a bat boy, walked over to where Moss was sitting and put the bat inside the padding of the wall behind home plate, where Moss was able to get it.
“Pretty cool moment,” Rodriguez said.
