Broker sues MSG for limit on bulk ticket sales

A ticket broker is crying foul over Madison Square Garden’s attempt to cut down on bulk purchases of season tickets.

Broker S4K, which caters to wealthy individuals and corporate clients, has controlled up to 100 subscriptions to Knicks and Rangers the past 15 years.

S4K is now suing in Manhattan Supreme Court to prevent the Garden from making the change.

The World’s Most Famous Arena announced to resellers in March that it would be restricting sales to eight season tickets per returning customer and four per new customer.

Since most Knicks and Rangers seats go as season sales, the move, in theory, gives fans seeking single-game tickets a better chance at a deal from a subscriber seeking to unload some of their tickets.

Garden spokesman Barry Watkins said the new policy “simply limits the amount of tickets an individual can own or control in order to give many more fans access to Knicks and Rangers games.”

Watkins called the suit meritless, adding, “We do not single out professional sellers — they are able to buy tickets just like anyone else, and have the same ticket limits as everyone else.”

S4K says limiting sales to MSG and its authorized reseller, TicketsNow, will “create an artificial floor in order to prop up the value of the tickets rather than let the market determine their value.”

As The Post reported in January, a half-dozen sales executives were canned after MSG caught them scalping Knicks and Rangers tickets.

The policy change followed shortly after.

The parties are due in court as early as Friday.
