Ex-Tivo boss to be inducted into Cable Hall of Fame
Former TiVo boss Tom Rogers is being inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame on Monday as part of the cable industry’s annual INTX confab in Boston.
Rogers, who ran PriMedia and was a founder of CNBC, has had quite the year.
TiVo struck a deal to sell its technology to digital entertainment firm Rovi for $1.1 billion. The deal was announced in April, and soon Rogers will be sitting back and figuring out how to spend the $55 million payout for his 5 percent stake in the set-top-box technology venture.
Rovi, meanwhile, can figure out the continuing value of its intellectual property and patents.
Rogers won’t be standing still for long, however. Friends say he’s already considering investment opportunities in the media and marketing sectors.
