The Bachelorette
Monday, 9 p.m., ABC
After Ben Higgins broke her heart in the season finale of “The Bachelor,” JoJo Fletcher is getting another shot at love as “The Bachelorette.” With the 12th season of the cheesetastic franchise set to get underway Monday night, longtime host — and newly minted “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” MC — Chris Harrison tells The Post his job isn’t over after the final rose is given out. In fact, his journey as a mentor and companion to the contestants only continues. — Jaclyn Hendricks
JoJo has 26 suitors vying for her heart. Which gents should viewers keep tabs on?
People will be talking about Chad [a 28-year-old luxury real-estate agent]. But obviously Jordan Rodgers [the younger brother of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers]. Once people get to know Jordan, they’ll see he’s a very good man and a dynamic guy in his own right. There are also a couple guys from our military that I think will catch JoJo’s eye.
You’ve been a part of “The Bachelor” franchise since the beginning. How has your role grown?
It’s definitely evolved over the last 15 years, from being the young, naïve host to what I am now, which is a number of things — from best friend to confidant to producer [Harrison was co-executive producer on several episodes of “Bachelor in Paradise”]. I’m also involved in the decision of [who will be the next] Bachelor or the Bachelorette.
How is the next Bachelor or Bachelorette chosen?
It really is a constant conversation that starts almost Night 1 of “The Bachelorette.” Once you saw the way it played out with Ben, when Ben told JoJo he loved her, it was such a no brainer to have her back as “The Bachelorette.”
JoJo’s journey is getting started, Ben and fiancée Lauren Bushnell are altar-bound. Do you still keep in touch with them?
I do. Yes, it’s a television show, but these are real people who have become friends of mine. I shoot Ben a text every now and then. I mean, it goes back. I [still] talk to Bob Guiney [Season 4’s “Bachelor”].
You’re the host of “The Bachelorette,” “The Bachelor” and “Bachelor in Paradise.” How many days each year is your life consumed with “Bachelor” projects?
September through Thanksgiving is “Bachelor,” and then we take a little break for Christmas and New Year’s, and then we come back for “The Bachelorette,” which we just wrapped. We’ll have a couple weeks off, and then we go right into “Bachelor” in Paradise.” There’s about a 10-week period where I would shut down a little bit, but it really is a year-round job now, where we’re kind of immersed in all things “Bachelor.”
