Serafina is finally moving forward with a plan to open on the Lower East Side, Side Dish has learned.
The upscale pizza and pasta joint is slated to open this fall at the corner of Ludlow and Rivington, the culmination of a two-year search for the right spot.
The community board was quick to sign off on the move to the 2,000-square-foot space, at 98 Rivington St., clearing the way for owners Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato.
“We were approved and welcomed immediately with an overwhelming majority by the Community Board and by the residents of the area who are looking forward to a reputable and family-friendly food establishment as opposed to another bar,” said Assaf.
The Lower East Side Serafina will be divided into two dining rooms: one on the ground floor, with 60 seats and an existing bar, and one wine room downstairs with 12 seats. There also will be a wraparound outdoor cafe.
It is the latest opening for the global brand that launched on the Upper East Side and now has New York locations from Harlem to the Hamptons, as well as outposts in Brazil, Japan, Korea, India, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
