Damn, Daniel.
Less than two hours in to Monday’s season premiere of “The Bachelorette,” the lady of the night, Jojo Fletcher, already has a monster with a mega ego on her hands.
After Aaron Rodgers’ baby brother, Jordan Rodgers, steals Jojo away not once, but twice, to seal their immediate connection with a tender kiss, Canadian model Daniel drops his drawers in order to catch her eye. Following several cocktails, of course.
“I had like one Fireball, two tequilas, two vodkas,” Daniel shares. “I’m not a drinker myself, and I’ve probably had the most to drink out there. That’s saying a lot.”
While Daniel ultimately takes the plunge in the pool, the suitors who managed to stay dry continue to vie for Jojo’s affections, especially with the first impression rose on the line.
And though the overconfident Chad, who fancies himself a “manlier, more rugged version than Ben [Higgins],” Jojo has another man in mind who is worthy of the rose. Mr. Rodgers, in fact.
“Through this whole thing, I kept thinking about you and our time together,” Jojo tells Jordan. “And I didn’t think I was going to kiss anyone tonight, but I’m really excited about you. And I’m very comfortable with you, and I feel that this belongs to you.”
While the other men joke that Jordan’s rose means nothing, considering Ben gave the first impression stem to the outspoken Olivia Caridi on “The Bachelor” last season, they’re confident they’ll make it through the first rose ceremony.
That is until an unexpected visitor shows up.
Giving his best Nick Viall impression by crashing the opening night festivities, former “Bachelor” Jake Pavelka makes a surprise appearance, shaking the contestants to the core. Well, the less confident ones at least.
“I’m going to be so pissed if Jake becomes a part of our group,” Evan, the erectile dysfunction expert seethes.
As Jake whisks Jojo away for a moment, the man, who she considers a brother, is ready to have an 11th hour heart-to-heart.
“I want love, for you. And I believe it’s in that room,” Jake tells Jojo. “I wanted to give you a little bit of advice because this is a little bit different than being on Ben’s season.”
And considering Jake has been on his fair share of “Bachelor” spinoffs, he knows exactly what he’s talking about – failed engagements and all.
With all interruptions out of the way, Jojo is able to continue the rose ceremony. And while the pompous Chad and the adorable marine Alex both score roses, Daniel has to wait until the last boutineer to have his name called.
Though it appears Daniel is grateful for his second chance, he and the rest of the suitors will face some stiff competition in the weeks ahead. Especially if Jordan sticks around.
