NFL uber-mom Annie Apple hired by ESPN in record time

Annie Apple, the mother of Giants rookie cornerback Eli Apple, has gained social media celebrity status since her son became a first-round pick, and Eli said Monday his mom is “enjoying it, for sure.’’

The status took a quantum leap forward Monday as ESPN announced Annie Apple will become a contributor on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” pregame show this fall, offering player profiles and other stories.

“A woman’s and a mother’s perspective is extremely important,’’ Annie Apple told The Post’s Kirsten Fleming. “The day you can give birth to a lineman or a cornerback, you can have an opinion. That’s what makes me excited. Every day, millions of moms are on the sidelines of their kids’ games for hours, and we have a voice. I’m looking forward to repping all of the sports moms with pride.’’

Annie Apple writes a blog called Survivin America: Making It Through with Humor and Hope.

“Annie caught our attention during the NFL Draft, and when we met with her in-person at ESPN, we were blown away by her relatability, her sense of humor and just how unafraid she is to speak her mind,” said Seth Markman, senior coordinating producer for ESPN’s NFL studio shows. “Annie brings a very unique perspective as the mother of a current NFL player and as a fan, and we look forward to exploring a variety of different story ideas with her on Sunday NFL Countdown.”

Annie Apple said getting this ESPN gig was “unexpected” and added “if they end up firing me in October, Wendy’s is hiring.’’
