A Bronx man told police that he turned the tables on a gun-toting robber who broke into his home Tuesday, shooting the thug with his own gun, police sources said.
Oneil Desilva, 22, was blasted in the left arm, left buttocks and torso inside a multifamily home on East 220th Street near Carpenter Avenue in Olinville at around 12:15 p.m., sources said.
The 22-year-old shooter, who called 911, told cops that he shot Desilva after Desilva entered his home with the intent of looting the place, sources said.
The man tussled with Desilva before grabbing his weapon from him and shooting him, he told police, according to sources.
“”All I know is that a shooting happened inside my home,” said the owner of the building. “I live there with my step son and my daughter. All the police told me was that my son was OK.”
Emergency responders rushed Desilva to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.
Police recovered the firearm at the scene and took the shooter into custody for questioning at the 47th Precinct, sources said.
One neighbor said he saw a few men walking into the home earlier in the day. The resident said the home “has a long history of trouble with the cops.”
“I saw one guy being brought out on a stretcher, and another guy being brought out in handcuffs who was [shirtless],” said the neighbor who asked not to be named.
No arrests have been made.
