People magazine will partner with ABC for weekly TV show
As predicted, People has teamed up with ABC for a new hour-long weekly TV show that will debut June 11 and run through the summer.
The network and the Time Inc. weekly said the new show, to be called “People’s List,” will be hosted by actor Jerry O’Connell and SuChin Pak, a former MTV news correspondent.
The plan is to run “People’s List” for six weeks. The time slot — 8 pm on Saturdays — is considered a low ratings slot, but People plans to use the show across its own digital properties.
The deal called for ABC to pay a $100,000 licensing fee per episode and to buy ads in People and EW, one source said.
Time Inc. and ABC declined to comment on the terms of the deal.
Media Ink had broken the news in February that a TV deal was close.
