Jojo Fletcher may get top billing as “The Bachelorette,” but by the looks of the new season’s trailer, it’s the so-called bros who are going to steal the show.
With 20 suitors still standing following Monday night’s pants-dropping season premiere, Jojo has a flurry of gents at her disposal, including Aaron Rodgers’ younger brother Jordan and luxury real estate agent Chad, who hopes to be the last alpha male standing.
“I don’t think that some of the guys have ever really met or seen or talked to a girl like her, so they’re throwing back a lot of drinks,” Chad observes during his first night in the mansion. And while he does score a rose from Jojo, he also hopes to weasel his way into her heart as a “manlier, more rugged version” of her ex, Ben Higgins.
But on his way to the top, Chad hopes to prove to the rest of the men that he’s the one to beat — slinging insults at Jordan and his short-lived NFL career.
“You’re a 27-year-old failed football player, you’ve done nothing with your life other than throw a piece of leather,” Chad spews to Jordan’s face in the newly released preview.
“The best thing about Jordan is his brother and the worst thing about Jordan is he’s not his brother, ” he adds during his confessional.
While viewers may tire of the “Chad v. Jordan” show, as loyal members of #BachelorNation did during last season’s boring battle between Shawn Booth and Nick Viall, Mr. Rodgers is making one thing perfectly clear: This is his neighborhood.
And though the emerging front-runner has all but locked up this competition, it wouldn’t be reality TV without an on-air meltdown — which brings us back to Chad.
In clips, the loose cannon not only shoves a fellow contestant, but he’s caught punching a door on-camera and threatening to fight another competitor. And while Jojo catches on that Chad is the most hated man in the house, he might not be her happily-ever-after if Chris Harrison has his say.
“There’s been some violence, threats of violence, guys are scared for their lives,” the longtime host warns Chad.
Though Chad’s future status remains unclear, whatever conflict arises clearly affects Jojo, who breaks down in tears while wearing a blue ball gown.
“I just want to find someone that loves me and that I can be happy with,” she cries during a confessional.
Despite the dramatic outburst from her supposed Prince Charmings, Jojo isn’t afraid to fall in love again. In fact, she seems to have found it within this rowdy bunch.
“Not only have I found love, but I found a lot of it with more than one person and I didn’t know that this much love existed,” she says.
