First they replaced him in the hearts of Mets fans — and now Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard are replacing Matt Harvey on the heads of Axe hair-spray users.
The two sizzling, wonder-maned starting pitchers were named Wednesday the new spokes athletes for Axe hair products, replacing Harvey as he struggles to win games on the mound.
The “Dark Knight” had been given the job last year, while leading the team to the World Series behind 13 wins and a 2.71 earned run average, eighth best in National League .
But Harvey’s ERA has ballooned to 6.08 this year and he has lost seven games. Fans booed him off the mound last week.
Axe insisted, however, that its switch to Harvey’s hotter teammates has nothing to do with him going from Dark Knight to a Knight to Forget.
“We had so much success with Matt . . . that we wanted to extend the conversation to styling, and his teammates were a perfect fit,” a rep said.
DeGrom and Syndergaard, a k a “Thor,” were laughing up their deal with Axe online Thursday.
“Hair without styling is like a ball with no heat,” Syndergaard tweeted.
DeGrom replied to Syndergaard, “Styling your hair distracts the hitters. No bs right?”
It wasn’t clear how much the duo will make from the ads.
