A Brooklyn man who relies on his adorable English bulldog for emotional support says the city Housing Authority is unfairly trying to boot the pup.
Lerone Washington, who lives in the Farragut Houses, says the dog, Onyx, eases his depression, suicidal thoughts and symptoms from schizophrenia and traumatic brain injury.
But Onyx bit a NYCHA employee last year, prompting the dog’s eviction, Washington says in Manhattan Supreme Court papers.
The employee claimed the dog “grabbed her elbow with his teeth and hung, suspended in midair, for five to seven minutes,” when it was actually only a few seconds, Washington says.
A NYCHA spokeswoman said: “This dog bit a NYCHA employee. NYCHA’s pet policy . . . requires that residents’ pets not pose a danger.”
Washington has until March to remove the dog or lose his apartment.
